Summer is slowly but surely arriving on Mainau Flower Island: the roses in the Italian Rose Garden and in the Promenade of Wild and Shrub Roses are exuding their lovely fragrance in an atmospheric and splendid display of blossoms. The perennial garden is adorned with the first daylilies and in the baroque castle courtyard you can once again marvel at our historic citrus collection from mid-June.
In June we also celebrate the shortest night of the year - Midsommar! Popular in Scandinavia and also here on Mainau Island is the traditional Midsummer Festival. This year it will be a little different than usual, but you can still look forward to typical Swedish delicacies on site.
Take a stroll through our riverside garden, where you will find, among other things, a walk-in bird's nest that is part of the art installation "Switching Habitats". By the way, the matching counterpart is on display at the State Garden Show in Überlingen.
Please inform yourself about the current requirements for your visit on our homepage in advance of your arrival. Enjoy the early summer on Mainau Island. We look forward to your visit!
